As the fishing season comes to a close, On The Water wrapped up their 40 week striped bass tournament this past Saturday with Striperfest in Buzzards Bay, MA. Narragansett was the official beer of this year’s On The Water Striper Cup. This was more than just an awards ceremony. This was the biggest fishing party on the east coast. And we’re not kidding. There was a live band, food, and plenty of cold ‘Gansetts. One lucky participant of the tournament went home with a brand new boat from North Coast. Wow, what a prize! In addition to the fishing trophies, we awarded Mel True our photo winner for sending us plenty of nice fishing photos throughout the season. We posted some on our site here and sent Mel plenty of shirts and other great ‘Gansett Gear. He’s pictured above. Once the winning team was presented the cup, they immediately ran to the ‘Gansett bar and filled it with beer. Then they all then took turns drinking from the ceremonious cup. What a party! You can see more photos from Striperfest after the jump.
Taste of Rhode Island was held this past weekend at the Newport Yachting Center. Clammie and the ‘Gansett Girls were on sight with the petition, playing baggo for prizes, and dancing to the sounds of the Foreverly Brothers and Erik Narwhal & the Manatees. Patrons from all over New England came out to sample some of Rhodey’s best eats. The official beer of the clam was on tap to help wash down those tasty oysters. Matunuck Oyster Bar, a Narragansett Clam Shack of the Week, was there as well and congratulations to Matt Cavaco for placing 2nd in the oyster shuck contest. Check out the photos below.
The Narragansett beer and WBRU Back-to-School music series wrapped up this past Friday with the Music For MAC Aids benefit show at Jerky’s Live Music Hall in Providence. The ‘Gansett Girls were there making sure the packed venue was drinking their part. To further help support the fund, they raffled off some ‘Gansett gear including a guys and girls new hoodie. The featured bands were Pistol Shot Gypsy, Keep Me Conscious, Stoic, and Breathe. Check out the video of some of the music below.
