The Wild Colonial Tavern in Providence held their annual relay road race called the Grog & Dog Jog. There were 70 teams competing each with 4 runners per team. Each runner must run about a mile, then eat a hot dog and down a Gansett before the next runner can take off. Sounds easy, but once you get back and take the first bite, the bread just makes your mouth go instantly dry. So you have to quench your thirst with an ice cold Gansett. There's some strategy involved too. You could be a slow runner, but eat and chug so fast the next runner on your team has a good start. Team Gansett didn't win, but they sure were champs at downing a Saugy and chuggin' that beer. The whole crew including Clammie, Tall Boy, the Beer Fairy and of course the Gansett Girls ran on our team and had some sneaky shenanigans in their cups. Just check out the video of the race and of course the hot dog eating, Gansett gulping finish. Music by Sarah And The Tall Boys - Jonesin' For Little Rhody. Congrats to Tall Boy for the runner with the fastest lap. He finished in a minute and 59 seconds. We wonder how he could move so fast. Can't wait for next year.
The International Oktoberfest took place all weekend long at the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, RI. This is one of the Gansett Girls' favorite events to be at. It's 3 days of German heritage food, music and of course beer. There are so many different beers to choose from, but the Gansett line was never quiet. Our new Fest was the biggest hit and by mid-day on Monday, the Fest kegs had all been kicked. The lager was flowing from the tap non-stop all 3 days. The girls were playing a bag toss game with everyone winning prizes like t-shirts and pint glasses. We couldn't have asked for nicer weather either. It was great to be out over looking the bay and drinking a Narragansett beer. Here are some photos from the weekend.
