The thunder was off in the distance and the sun started peaking through the clouds just in time for the chefs to show off their best chowder recipes. People came from all over to sample the different chowders and even several of the restaurants were from outside New England. Guess what their favorite beer of the day was? Yup! Narragansett, the official beer of the clam. It's even the new favorite beer of chef and owner of Mud City Crab House down the Jersey Shore in Manahawkin. Their chowder wasn't too bad either. But it wasn't just clam chowders. Some had buffalo chicken chowder and more. Yes, the Newport Yachting Center did it again with this years' Knorr Great Chowder Cook-Off. The Bonnet Shores Beach Club in Narragansett held a benefit concert to support the Narragansett Police IBPO Local #303. Headlining the night was the local cover band, Those Guys. The place was literally at capacity and the Gansett tall boys were everywhere. The Gansett Girls were having a great time getting down to the music and raffling off Gansett Gear for people. And it was to support those who help protect us. What a great time for a good cause. Here are some photos from that night.
