Weekend Recap: Beerfest, Pinups For Pitbulls, John Kane And Pirate Girl Bar

Beerfest

The Great International Beer Festival took place in Providence this past Saturday. The Rhode Island Convention Center was host to quite possibly the most insane beer festival we have ever attended. The line for Narragansett never seemed to end. And we had all four of our delicious brews on tap; lager, light, porter, and bock. Clammie and Tall Boy wouldn't of missed this for the world. Just check out the above video of the crowd going nuts for them. Never have they ever been stopped for so many photos. Can't wait to see them all tagged on Facebook. This was an awesome time and we look forward to the next one.

Pinups For Pitbulls
Mix Pin-Up models, Rock n Roll, and Narragansett tall boys, and you have a for sure good time. Throw in a very worthy cause, and you have reason to stay up late on a Sunday night. Pin-Ups for Pitbulls held a fundraiser/party for their 2010 calendar which showcases some of the top pin-up models from around the country, with some amazing Pitbulls. The idea behind the calendar was to raise awareness for the breed and help fund education on discrimination of this misunderstood breed.

John Kane Photo Exhibit

This past Saturday, Somerville local/Salem transplant, John Kane, showcased his latest exhibit, “Crowes, Jackets, Lips” at local Salem institution Front Street Café. The invite only event drew close to 75 people throughout the night, which on top of John’s work, were entertained by Old Jack (awesome band) and ice cold Narragansett tall boys. John’s work showcased his fondness for bands such as The Black Crowes, My Morning Jacket, and The Flaming Lips, capturing in their element, live on stage. I’m sure Narragansett will be working plenty more with John in the future...

Pirate Girl Bar Gansett Promos 015

Pirate Girl Bar
The Pirate Girl Bar was celebrating the fishing boat "F/V Debbie Ann" and their tv fame "Lobstermen" on the Discovery Channel. These fishermen were taped last year by Discovery and are on the currently airing show "Lobstermen." There was a microphone being passed around and during one of the commercial breaks, the Captain of the vessel, Captain Norbert made the announcement that the men in the bar are "manly men doing manly things in a manly way" and that the official captains orders of those "manly things" was to drink a Gansett! There was one "girlie-man" in the bar who wouldn't switch from Budweiser to Gansett even after doing a hidden taste test! (That he got wrong but continued to drink Bud). After watching the show "Loberstermen" the Gansett girls made their rounds around the bar and gave out gear to those who were drinking Gansetts during the show. We can't tell you how many times "Fishing and Gansetts just go together!" was said.
