Rubblebucket headlines Brighton music and rowing fest

MySecretBoston.com has partnered with Community Rowing to host a free music and rowing festival on Sunday, September 19, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Harry Parker Boathouse in Brighton (not too far from Martignetti Liquors and Staples on Soldier’s Field Road). Rubblebucket will headline the inaugural event that will feature five local bands and rowing races in between sets. Rubblebucket, an eight-piece band founded by former members of John Brown’s Body, hits hard with a strong, danceable sound that blends the tribal beats of West Africa with funk, rock, and just about everything in between (think of the Talking Heads, Bjork, and Fela Kuti hanging out at a drum circle). It always ends up being quite the party. Gentlemen Hall, Buru Style, Banana Phonetic, and the Duppy Conquerors, a Bob Marley tribute group that plays Precinct every Monday night, are set to round out the bill. More info on all of the bands (including videos) can be found here.

Be sure to check out MySecretBoston.com for updates about the festival. Follow MySecretBoston on Facebook to find out how to win VIP beer garden passes where you’ll be able to score some cold tallboys.
