Providence Journal columnist, Eddward Fitzpatrick mentions General Treasurer Frank T. Caprio drinks a 'Gansett in his column on Sunday, November 1, 2009. Columnist Edward Fitzpatrick: What R.I. needs is creative thinking on revenue.
"For politicians planning to campaign in 2010, the gift shop could provide waffle irons to assist with all the waffling we’re bound to hear in the year ahead. (Consider the waffle-fest that ensued when Political Scene asked if three likely candidates for governor ’ former U.S. Sen. Lincoln D. Chafee, Attorney General Patrick C. Lynch and General Treasurer Frank T. Caprio ’ were going to drink liberally when meeting with a group called Drinking Liberally, which brings together "left-leaning individuals" at The Wild Colonial Tavern. The most straight-forward reply came from Caprio’s field coordinator, who said he wouldn’t be surprised if Caprio had a ’Gansett with the group. Chafee was the first to speak to Drinking Liberally, and I’m told his presentation was as smooth and refreshing as a warm, flat draft.)"
