Number 2: Brewery Rallies
To help gain support for the Narragansett brewery, we held three rallies this Summer. Mark made a speech while the 'Gansett Girls gathered signatures for our petition. 'Gansett supporters were encouraged to attend as we marched to a few bars to drink our part. The first was held in our hometown of Providence, the second in Boston and the last in Worcester was by far the most memorable. As you can tell from the above video not only did Mark, Clammie, the Girls and everyone else march from the Vernon Hotel to Brew City, but they did it in a horse-drawn carriage. This is by far one of our top memories from 2009.
Number 1: Gansetts At Fenway
Narragansett was the official beer of the Boston Red Sox from 1944 to 1975. Curt Gowdy, the announcer for the Red Sox, was a spokesman for Narragansett at the time and made the phrase, "Hi Neighbor Have a 'Gansett" famous. Everywhere we go, New Englanders tell stories of how they remember their father listening to the Red Sox on a transistor radio during warm Summer afternoons and cooling off with a 'Gansett. With that being said, it is a great honor to once again be sold at Fenway Park. Baseball fans from all over can watch a game at the historic field and enjoy an ice cold Narragansett lager beer. What could be better? Great sports action and Narragansett beer. For the good hours.
