When I saw this sight I was compelled to check it out. My family grew up on gansett. When people ask where I’m from I tell them Rhode Island, weened on Narragansett beer and weiners.
In the 1970’s I was a member of Kappa Delta Phi at RIC. Once a month on fridays after basketball we would make the pilgrimage to the Narragansett brewery for the tour. John English was the ambassador of beer there and would share his insights on how gansett was the best and freshest beer around. He would let us sit there until it was tasting time when we would help him by mingling with the guests and make them feel at home. He had graduated from LaSalle with my Uncle George. They played ball for LaSalle so that was our in. Our motto: “Hi neighbor have a gansett and keep the local boys working.” Let the tradition live on. Johnny Bagadonuts
