The Silks have been blowing up lately and not just in Rhode Island. We've seen them countless times and it just dawned on us that they haven't been a Gansett Band Of The Week yet. Well here it is. We'll be seeing them again this Friday night at Fete Music in Olneyville for General Assembly's State Of The Union. Here's more about the band. BIO: Formed in the summer of 2010, The Silks have burst onto the country blues scene in New England with ferocity and enthusiasm. Front-man and songwriter Tyler James Kelly has managed to assemble a cast of musicians with resumes consisting of The Midnight Creeps (Jonas Parmalee), Electric Service (Matt Donnelly) and The Sugar Honey Iced Tea (Laila Aukee) and blending it into a sound that is all their own. With compliments that vary from drawing comparisons to The Rolling Stones in style and songwriting to a soundman shouting "that's the most fun I've ever had!" after a show, The Silks have garnered a reputation as a band that everyone found themselves wanting to see overnight. The Silks have had the privilege of sharing the stage with The Cave Singers, Brown Bird, The Devil Makes Three, Deer Tick and The Agents. Press: "The Silks' music goes down easy like good bourbon on a hot day." -Boston Band Crush - Nick Murphy "The best compliment comes from the sound guy, who in a moment of excitement yells out, "That was the most fun I've had. Fucking A, that was great." I really can't disagree. It was a great time. " -The Noise: http://www.thenoise-boston.com/content/view/345/18/ "This must-see local band has been earning high praise for its unique and enticing style." - GoLocalProv: http://www.golocalprov.com/food/best-places-to-celebrate-new-years-eve/ "The Silks, they seem to gain more and more acclaim with each performance." - Rhody News: http://www.rhodynews.com/arts-entertainment/boo-city/
